^ the instrumentation and atmospheric sound created reflects my vision for the calmer section after the dramatic thrashing tones of the turbulent water.

Further piano development

After re-reading the brief I re-evaluated the direction in which my composition was heading. The brief was more on the natural side of the river and it's journey - therefore i have adapted the theme to be more within these guidelines. I am following an enchanted/darkness route then as the journey of the river progresses the mood/tone would follow this.

Furthermore - i have put my idea beneath the original ( 2 bottom lines = new idea) to show how it differs. My ideas follow the path of modulation to variate the passage - into d Major. This key change incorporates the idea of changing the tone within a piece.

Adding clarinet to the ideas I have

Being a clarinetist myself I feel comfortable in transposing from the piano to clarinet and vice versa. Therefore I have begun developing ideas for a clarinet accompaniment - and will alter this dependent on the feedback I get from my teacher (will be on the 10th of November).
I have 2 ways in which to incorporate the clarinet.
Firstly -  Having the clarinet as one of the instruments to create harmonic or melodic color and interest.
Secondly - Exchange the lead melodic instrument to the clarinet and instead have the treble clef of the piano support this (as the clarinet would previously have done).

Initial composition idea recording

After notating my composition on an iPad app - Notion , I was able to get a mp4 recording from this so I am currently using it as a reference!

16 bar composition HW

After experimenting on different instruments I decided to start with the piano
- rough 16 bar piece
- ideas about the extension of some bars

Starting ~

After starting my As music coursework I decided that I needed a place to collate all my ideas and documents to form a mood board/collection of ideas.
I will mostly post my composition ideas and references.

Following the setting of our composition brief - Rivers , I began to brainstorm some theme ideas to fit in with the film style genre that were set out as our guidelines.

These 4 rough ideas ensued as a result
  • Sunlight cascading through ripples in the water
  • Drowning in a river
  • A fish investigating the surroundings
  • A storm – rain on the surface
